Last month, a giant chochet quilt conceived by Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos was suspended from the D. Luis I bridge in Porto. The quilt, which took six months to knit by about 1000 women, is 35×15m, weighs 500Kg and is named ‘Varina‘ (fishwife), as a tribute to Portuguese fish-selling women.

Note: “Crochet” isĀ  a type of knitting done with a long hooked needle.
